WHO begins search for new sources of funding

The launch of the WHO’s new fundraising foundation in Geneva coincided with Donald Trump’s decision to cut funding for the UN agency. There was no connection between the timing of the two events, says Thomas Zeltner, the former head of the Swiss Public Office of Federal Health. A member of the founding board, Zeltner was a driving force behind the creation of the foundation, which seeks to tap nontraditional sources such as the private sector and philanthropists.
